160 Hiring a Farm Delivery Courier: My Interview with Farmstead Logistics

160 Hiring a Farm Delivery Courier: My Interview with Farmstead Logistics

May 18, 2022 by Corinna

Do you spend more time than you’d like in a farm delivery truck every summer? What if you could outsource that to someone else? In this episode, I interview Andrew Miller from Farmstead Logistics — a third party logistics provider who helps deliver farm products from Point A to Point B. Andrew talks through what services like his provide, what a farmer should ask to decide whether this service is “worth it,” what potential hiccups you need to watch out for.

My hope is that after listening to this podcast, you’ll have a better idea of some of the issues you need to address before you contract with a courier service.

Who is Andrew Miller?

Andrew Miller Farmstead LogisticsAndrew Miller is the owner of Farmstead Logistics – a dedicated third party logistics provider focused on serving small scale farmers and local businesses in the SE and South Central Wisconsin area as well northern Illinois.  He bills himself as “the premier farm to table delivery service.” Farmstead Logistics got its start in late 2020, just as Andrew was finishing his masters degree in business from UW-Milwaukee.  Andrew has a long history of farming in his family as they are fourth generation farmers from Easter, South Dakota.  Andrew also had an extensive career in the hospitality industry for 17 years prior to starting Farmstead Logistics.
