In this podcast, I interview Sharon Mauzy of Skyview Acres in Winchester, Virginia! Sharon is a former city girl-turned farmer, and is one of the first farmers to offer a meat CSA in her area! She and I talk through how she found her first group of customers (a BRILLIANT strategy!) and how she took that small group and turned them into a loyal following. She explains how her meat CSA works, how COVID has impacted her this season, and most importantly — how she leans into the relationship she has with her customers, to help her sell again and again. We also touch on how Sharon has used Early Registration signups to get her members to renew their CSA membership.
Sharon and her husband Greg specialize in pasture-based meats in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia about an hour outside of Washington, DC. With a focus on feeding their community, Sharon and Greg take great pride in the quality of their meats as well as the quality of life for the livestock they raise.
