How to Create Multiple Links in your Instagram Bio
From the beginning, one of the downsides of Instagram has been the inability to post a live link inside your post.
The way around this shortcoming was to say something like, “Check out the link inside my bio to learn more about…”
So anytime I wanted someone to do something like…
- Watch a video
- Download a cheatsheet to capture a lead
- Go to a certain website
- Or hit a buy now button
…I had to switch out the link in my bio.
Ugh. Too many steps.
So honestly?… I rarely issued calls to action, and just kept my website as my bio link.
A few months ago I learned about a new app called LinkTr.ee from the Social Media Examiner Podcast.
Yup. I spelled that right. LinkTr.ee
Type that into your URL address bar on Google Chrome, and you’ll be able to sign up for this free Instagram app.
This app allows you to create multiple links inside your IG bio, kind of like a mini version of a navigation menu inside your Instagram account.
How does it work?
Well, I have a great video tutorial where I walk you through how to set it up step-by-step right here. (Watch it now!)
How to Set It Up:
Step 1: Set up your free account at www.LinkTr.ee
Step 2: Take your unique URL link and paste it into your Instagram profile (where you can post the one link).
Step 3: Go into your LinkTr.ee dashboard and start setting up your links and calls to action. Toggle the switch next to each link so it turns green and becomes live.
Step 4: Drag and drop the links to change the order
How to Use LinkTr.ee for Instagram
As I shared in my recent post “2 Mistakes Farmers Make When Making Calls to Action,” it’s important for you to tell your audience what you want them to do next.
If you want your prospects to move down the customer journey and become more invested in your brand, you’ll need to create steps for them to follow to do so.
- Do you want them to watch a video so they become more engaged?
- Do you want them to make a small purchase to become a first-time buyer?
- Do you want them to give you their email address so you can warm them up later with a sales sequence or launch?
- Do you want to invite them to do business with you?
I’ve created an internal list of about 10 calls to action that I like to reference in my social media posts. These line up with the different funnels in my business. So for example these are just some of the CTAs in my LinkTr.ee dashboard:
www.sharedlegacyfarms.com/AtoZ – leads to a leadbox that gives them my A to Z Vegetable Storage Guide
www.sharedlegacyfarms.com/AcademyList – leads to a leadbox that gives them a list of the training courses inside my Virtual Academy product
www.sharedlegacyfarms.com/calendar – leads to leadbox that gives them my CSA harvest schedule for what’s in the box
When I create content within IG, I can now ask myself – before I even post – how can I craft this post so that it aligns with one of my calls to action in my Linktree bio?
As you craft your calls to action buttons within LinkTr.ee, try to think of the top 5 most common CTAs you have. Then, when you post something – say a picture of garlic scapes — you can take it several different angles… something like:
Version #1
#Garlic scapes are only around in June. I just #pickled 7 pints. I made a video training that shows how you do it step by step. Want to see it? Ciick the link in my bio and look for the button that says “Watch my Pickled Garlic Scapes Video” #csa #academy #knowyourfood
(The goal of this post is to turn cold audience into a more engaged audience by getting them exposed to my reputation as a teacher of how to eat veggies, thus building my authority)
OR
VERSION #2
Holly and Brent harvest the #garlic scapes today. We cut these tops off the garlic plant, which is actually the future flower so that we can send energy back to the bulb under the soil. They’re only around during the month of June, and our #CSA members get first dibs. Our CSA members get exposed to all kinds of unusual veggies I their weekly #veggiebox each week. If you think you might want to try it out, you should first ask yourself the 6 questions to make sure you’re a good fit. Find these questions by clicking on the link in my bio, then click on “6 Questions” #foodienation #youwilleatbetterinToledo #foodinthe419 #organicfarmer
(The goal of this kind of post is to pull in leads to my CSA program)
OR
VERSION #3
Do you even know what this is? It’s a #garlic #scape! And you can use it wherever you use garlic. They are out in abundance right now, and they’re not to expensive! Load up while you still can. I like to chop mine up and freeze it for winter. Then in January, when everyone else is wishing they still had farm fresh garlic, I can silently pat myself on the back for my resourcefulness. Want to know how to store and freeze every vegetables from A to Z? Download my A to Z Vegetable Storage Guide. Click the link in my bio and then choose the “A to Z Guide” button.
(The goal of this kind of post is to teach a cold audience something novel and new, and to get them to subscribe to my “farm market” funnel so I can email them every week later.)
Thanks to LinkTr.ee, it is now possible to start using CTAs more effectively in Instagram. So before you post, always ask yourself, “What do I want people to do after they read or view this?” Then be sure to add in an appropriate CTA if possible that aligns with your message.
